Forest communities, sustainable forests

Members of a cooperative in Amanalco, Estado de México, created the Unión de Ejidos Forestales Emiliano Zapata in 1981, which has permitted them to develop their own territorial planning and a plan for the forest management for its use and conservation. The forest of Amanalco has an important role in the capture and distribution of potable water into the metropolitan area. (Photo: Greenpeace / Prometeo Lucero)
